3/11 Day Breakthrough?

You may remember that I missed 311 Day this year and was completely disappointed.

Well, I have a couple pieces of good news:

1. I attended their concert this summer in Atlanta and it was wonderful.

2. I have tickets to attend a special show at the Fox Theater in Atlanta on Halloween, where they will play their first album—Music—it its entirety, and promise other hits, classics, and special surprises.

3. Their website says to stay tuned for a very special announcement regarding a 4 day event in the first week of March 2011! I would imagine that this special event is because March of 2011 will also be 3/11. So—this event might count as a 311 Day celebration and get checked off the list. I can't wait to hear where it will be taking place—I hope I can make it.

Update from 3/11 Day

So, before I go to bed (they started late, and I'm on EST—not PST), I wanted to be sure to post a little something from the experience.

So far the show is AMAZING! I truly wish I could have gotten tickets, and I'm really excited about the 2012 show now. Here's a (low quality) video I managed to get from the webcast. It's a new song that they decided to premiere tonight called "Sun Come Through" — Enjoy!

Happy 3/11 Day!

So, as you know from my previous post about 3/11 Day, I wasn't able to attend. At the last minute, 311 decided to offer a webcast of the show, so of course I registered to watch! The show starts at 10pm eastern, and runs for about five (5) hours. I'm not sure how much I'll be able to stay awake for tonight, but my subscription includes a replay tomorrow just in case I doze off.

Here's a screen shot from Mandalay Bay about 30 minutes before the show began. I'll see what else I can capture as I go. Yay!!

3/11 Day

Since 2000, every other year on March 11th ("311 Day"), 311 (my favorite band of all time) holds a very special concert event that attracts thousands of fans from around the world. The event is typically held in New Orleans. As a result, the mayor proclaimed March 11th as "311 Day" in New Orleans. However, due to a massive medical convention overtaking the vast majority of hotel rooms in downtown New Orleans, the 311 Day concert for 2010 is moving to Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV.

Billed as "the ultimate 311 concert experience", 311 Day is the premiere event for 311 fans to gather and celebrate their love of the group and to witness the most exciting 311 show of the year. 311 plays an extended setlist (5 hours) of hits, rarities and covers; backed by a state of the art light and special effects show. Past shows have also included appearances by circus performers, aerial acrobats, fire twirlers, stilt walkers, jugglers, drumlines, and marching bands.

Well, I'm completely bummed. I was just doing some research online so that I could budget and make arrangements to attend 3/11 day this year—and it's sold out! Unfortunately, since the event isn't annual, the next one isn't scheduled until a couple months after my 30th birthday - I think I'll leave it on my list though, since I'll be making the arrangements before the big 3-0!
