Book 1: The Lovely Bones

So, I'll start off with books, since that's a part of the list that I've begun already.

This book was really hard to put down! It begins as part mystery and part ghost story as Susie watches her family (on Earth) deal with her murder (from Heaven). Despite the advice of her counselor/friend in Heaven, Susie has a hard time "letting go" of her life on Earth. She wants to watch over her family, but doing so makes her yearn for her former life. As she follows her father in his quest to solve her murder, she lives vicariously through her sister— experiencing many milestones that realizes she'll never reach in death.

I thought that the Alice Sebold's take on Heaven was fascinating—individually tailored to each person—with roommates and ever-changing surroundings. Although the beginning of the book is somewhat disturbing, the story is well worth the effort. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends.
